School of Eloquence – The Home of Public Speaking
For over two decades, the School of Eloquence has stood at the forefront of public speaking education, leadership communication, and voice development in Nigeria and across Africa.
Founded in 2006 by Ubong Essien, CSP — West Africa’s Only Certified Speaking Professional (CSP) — the School of Eloquence was built on a simple but powerful belief:
- That voice matters.
- That communication matters.
- That people, leaders, institutions, and nations rise or fall largely on the quality of their expression.
For 20 years, the School has trained executives, entrepreneurs, government officials, media personalities, professionals, emerging leaders, students, and everyday individuals to overcome fear, communicate with clarity, and speak with power. Today, that journey has entered a historic new chapter.
Official Guinness World Record Holder
On May 12, 2026, Guinness World Records officially confirmed the School of Eloquence, Nigeria, as the new Guinness World Record holder for the: “Longest Speech Marathon by a Team”
The historic attempt, titled “20 Days of Eloquence – Nigeria Speaks to the World”, ran continuously for 480 HOURS from April 1 to April 21, 2026, in Lagos, Nigeria.
This monumental achievement surpassed the previous world record held in New Zealand and established a new global benchmark in endurance speaking, communication discipline, and coordinated public speaking execution.
But beyond the record itself, this achievement represented something far deeper. It became a global statement that disciplined voice still matters. That ideas still matter. That communication remains one of humanity’s most powerful tools for leadership, influence, and transformation.
More Than A Record Attempt
The 20 Days of Eloquence marathon was not merely about speaking for long hours. It was about demonstrating:
- intellectual endurance,
- communication discipline,
- leadership expression,
- teamwork,
- consistency,
- structure,
- resilience,
- and the power of organized voice.
For 20 consecutive days, Nigerians from diverse backgrounds maintained a live relay of speeches, presentations, discussions, ideas, debates, reflections, and public communication before a global audience. Participants included:
- young professionals,
- NYSC graduates,
- emerging leaders,
- executives,
- students,
- ordinary citizens,
- seasoned voices,
- and respected personalities.
Together, they proved that Nigeria possesses not only energy and creativity, but also depth, articulation, and intellectual capacity.
A Historic Moment For Africa
This achievement marked more than a victory for the School of Eloquence. It became a defining moment for Nigeria, for Africa, and for the global speaking profession.
The official adjudication announcement was delivered virtually by Guinness World Records Senior Adjudicator Lena Kuhlmann, who praised the:
- consistency,
- precision,
- resilience,
- coordination,
- and exceptional dedication demonstrated throughout the attempt.
- As the official certificate was unveiled live during the announcement ceremony, the School of Eloquence was formally welcomed into the Guinness World Records family with the words: “You are now officially amazing.” Those words now form part of the enduring legacy of this institution.
