THE ENGLISH REMEDIAL ACADEMY (TERA™)
Introduction
The English Remedial Academy (TERA™) is a premium language remediation programme developed by the School of Eloquence to help adults overcome foundational limitations in their use of spoken English.
TERA addresses the everyday English challenges that can prevent otherwise capable people from expressing themselves clearly, correctly and confidently at work and in social situations.
It is not an academic English course, nor is its purpose to turn participants into grammarians. TERA is a practical language rehabilitation intervention for adults whose professional and social advancement may increasingly expose gaps in the English language foundation acquired earlier in life.
The objective is straightforward: identify the gaps, repair the principal deficiencies, create greater language consciousness and develop better patterns of functional spoken English.

The TERA Philosophy
Adult language remediation requires more than being told what is right or wrong.
It requires consciousness, repetition, exposure, application and conditioning.
TERA therefore combines direct instruction and correction with guided practice and deliberate application of English in the participant’s everyday professional and social environment.
Participants are not expected to suspend their lives and return to school. Instead, TERA works with the realities of adult professional life. We identify what needs fixing, simplify difficult areas, correct persistent mistakes and help participants practise better English until improved patterns increasingly become part of everyday communication.
Every TERA journey therefore begins with diagnosis before prescription.
STEP 1: LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY ASSESSMENT SESSION (LPAS™)
Before recommending a TERA programme, we first need to understand precisely where the participant stands.
The Language Proficiency Assessment Session (LPAS™) is a confidential one-on-one diagnostic engagement designed to establish the participant’s current English communication capability and identify the areas requiring priority attention.
Duration: Approximately 1½ to 2 hours
Format: Confidential one-on-one assessment
What We Assess
The assessment examines how effectively the participant can:
- Construct and speak everyday English sentences
- Use grammar and tenses correctly
- Find and use appropriate words
- Pronounce words clearly
- Listen, understand and respond appropriately
- Hold everyday conversations
- Communicate in workplace and social situations
- Recognise recurring mistakes in their own English usage
What Happens Afterwards
Following LPAS, the participant receives a Language Proficiency Assessment Report identifying key observations, priority areas for improvement and the recommended developmental pathway.
Investment: ₦250,000
Where the participant proceeds into TERA Gold™ or TERA Platinum™, the full ₦250,000 LPAS investment is credited towards the programme fee.
Following the assessment, the School of Eloquence recommends the TERA pathway best suited to the participant’s language profile, developmental needs and required depth of intervention.

Intensive Language Remediation
Duration: 6 Weeks
Engagement Architecture: 12 Confidential One-on-One Coaching Sessions
Session Duration: Approximately 90–120 minutes

TERA Gold™ is an intensive corrective intervention designed for participants whose assessment reveals identifiable foundational English language deficiencies requiring concentrated attention.
Its principal mandate is to repair the participant’s most important English language deficiencies and establish greater consciousness of correct English usage.

Beyond the Coaching Room
TERA Gold does not end when a coaching session finishes.
Participants receive prescribed exercises, guided practice and appropriate out-of-session activities designed to encourage the use of better English between formal engagements.

TERA Platinum™ is the School’s extended language remediation and conditioning pathway.
It includes the principal areas addressed under TERA Gold but provides substantially more time for repair, reinforcement, repetition, real-life application and the development of better language habits.
The objective is not merely to teach the participant what is correct. It is to help better English increasingly become part of the way the participant communicates in everyday life.

Weeks 1–4: Intensive Remediation
Two coaching sessions per week
The opening phase concentrates on identifying and correcting the participant’s most consequential language deficiencies.
Weeks 5–16: Reinforcement & Conditioning
One coaching session per week
The participant progressively takes improved English into everyday professional and social life, returns with new experiences and challenges, receives further correction and continues practising better patterns.
Total: 20 confidential one-on-one coaching sessions over 16 weeks.

TERA Platinum creates a longer developmental relationship between the participant and the School of Eloquence.
Between formal coaching sessions, participants may receive prescribed reading and listening activities, speaking exercises, vocabulary work, real-life communication assignments and other appropriate developmental activities.
These activities provide something the classroom alone cannot provide: exposure, application and time for better English to take root.

The difference between TERA Gold and TERA Platinum is not simply the number of coaching sessions.
TERA Gold: Intensive Remediation
Gold concentrates on identifying and repairing the participant’s principal English language deficiencies through a focused six-week intervention.
TERA Platinum: Remediation + Conditioning
Platinum provides a 16-week developmental window in which deficiencies are repaired, reinforced and progressively replaced by better language habits through continued exposure and real-life application.
The appropriate pathway is therefore recommended by the School of Eloquence following the Language Proficiency Assessment Session.
