“The Eloquent Formula: Cracking the Code of Communication”
By Ubong Essien, CSP — Dean, School of Eloquence

In our second session, I wrote a formula on the board—simple in appearance, but profound in power:
C + C + (C) = C²
Where:
C₁ = Content
C₂ = Conveyance
(C) = Context
C² = The Crux of Communication
This is not just theory. It is the mathematics of eloquence—a universal equation every communicator must master.
Let’s decode it:
- Content is what you say — your facts, stories, insights.
- Conveyance is how you say it — your voice, gestures, presence.
- Context is where and to whom you say it — a boardroom, a pulpit, a rally, or a classroom.
Put together correctly, these yield the crux—the very heart of communication: clarity, resonance, and impact.
Monica saw it firsthand: Her content was heartfelt. Her conveyance, though initially restrained, began to breathe. And her context—a social initiative to support widows—became the stage for meaning.
“Speak in the wrong context and you miss the moment.
Speak with no structure and you waste the message.
But speak with content, conveyance, and context in harmony…
And you arrive at communication’s crux.”
Welcome to the science—and art—of eloquence.
