“The Eloquent Body: Where the Depth of Your Speech Resides”

By Ubong Essien, CSP — Dean, School of Eloquence

The body of your speech is where the real meal is served — it is the main course in the three-course metaphor of eloquence.

With Monica, we went deep into this structure: Introduction → Body → Conclusion. But it’s the body where eloquence does its heaviest lifting.

This is where you:

  1. Break down your points clearly
  2. Use stories to illustrate your arguments
  3. Structure your content into logical flows
  4. Demonstrate depth, understanding, and value

I told Monica, “This is your cruise altitude. You’re no longer taking off — you’re gliding with control and clarity.”

It’s in the body that you must shine intellectually and emotionally — not only showing that you know what you’re talking about, but that you care deeply about it. Every idea is a building block, every sentence a beam in the architecture of persuasion.

Eloquence in the body of your speech is not just about what you say — it’s about how much weight your words carry.

If the introduction catches attention, the body must hold it. So feed your audience here. Enlighten them. Lead them.

Let your message stand strong in the body — eloquently built to last.
